I finally got a new car!!!

So here's the background...

Back in late 2011 when I was shopping around for my 2012 Camaro Convertible, I was being torn in two directions as I was also following the development of the Toyota/Subaru collaboration that would eventually result in the BRZ and FR-S.

I decided on the Camaro though as I love having a drop top and didn't know if I would be as happy without one. Additionally, it was easy to decide because the BRZ wasn't in production yet.

I loved my 2012 at first and couldn't have been happier with my decision. And then the honeymoon was over. I had one of "those" convertibles. I'm not going to go into detail regarding the multiple issues I had with mine. If you would like, head over to the Convertible section and any thread that lists any problem with the convertibles, it is likely that mine had the issue. I have to say, GM was great to work with throughout the ordeal and they we were eventually able to come to an agreeable conclusion. Customer Service was top notch! That solved the problem with the convertible issues, but I still had the passion for the BRZ as I was now hearing that this collaboration to create a great, affordable "driver's car." had been a success. Almost all of the critics, magazines and automotive web forums were saying that this car was fantastic.

Fast forward to today. While meeting a friend (and fellow Camaro5 member) at my favorite coffee shop, we were simply enjoying the usual chatter at the local hangout. My friend was optimizing his time by multitasking and conveniently enough happened to be surfing the web, checking out local dealer inventories when he stumbled across a gem. He had located a slightly used (2700 miles) BRZ at a local Chevrolet dealer. And the price seemed pretty good for a base model. I usually try to avoid trips to dealerships as I often find myself driving something different home that what I drove there in. For those of you who aren't familiar with the BRZ and FR-S this year, they are limited production models and almost impossible to find already. I was told by many dealers and many BRZ forum members that if you wanted one, you needed to order it before March of 2012. So, of course we went to check it out... I figured a test drive couldn't hurt .

I had heard that the BRZ was simply fun to drive. Many stated that the car just has a great balance between traction, handling and power. They were right. Now, excluding straight line acceleration, this car was great at everything. The test drive was a blast! I can't describe it better than saying it is simply fun to drive, although a bit more power would be nice... After a grueling and excruciating 20 minute debate with myself, I decided I would go for it. I signed the papers and am now the proud owner of a 2013 BRZ in stunning WR Blue Pearl!!!

A couple other details, I was wondering why the vehicle had such low (2700) mileage. So I asked, why had the owner decided to sell. Ironically enough, I was advised by the dealer that the owner had decided he had wanted more power, so he traded it in on a Camaro 2ss coupe...

I know I left many of you hanging, but the solution that GM and I agreed to was a buyback of my 2012 2SS Convertible. Which of course, I swiftly replaced with a 2013 2SS Convertible in August of 2012. And after driving that BRZ I realized that the previous owner of the BRZ was right. Sometimes you just need more power... In other words, I didn't sacrifice one in order to get the other, I just added to the garage. It seems like a great decision right now, ask me again when the euphoria wears off and I begin making payments on the BRZ... Now the only problem I have is trying to decide which one I should drive today

Any suggestions on how to choose?

Congrats! I have been toying with the idea of buying one. AVO Turbo has developed some outstanding turbo packages if you decide you need more juice.

Congrats on the additional ride.

I love that color on the BRZ. One of my neighbors has one in the same color.

Those cars are a blast to drive. WRC has just pushed ahead a 2wd class and would be awesome to see Subaru inch back into pro rallying. Congrats it's one awesome ride.

I've never tried out AutoX racing... I'm thinking now after a whole 24 hours of ownership, I may have the perfect car to try it out with...

Autocross > Drag Racing.

The car here.. in my sig. Right down there at the bottom? That's destined for a watts link. Carving corners is more fun IMO than launching and rowing gears in a straight line. Real shocker is watching a guy take a C4 vette IRS setup and fabbing it into a 3rd gen Camaro. Talk about ape rape on a '13 5.0 Track pack and an SS at the same time..

I test drove one too before I purchased my camaro. I love the handling, and the balance.i can't stand the lack of power, and the clutch. It's so light. I felt like I was going to kick through the fire wall. In conparison. The v6 camaro is stiff compared to the FR-S. much like the op though. I would own this as my second car. Plus the girlfriend drools aver the scion.

Very awesome! I just saw my first Scion FR-S a couple days ago, cool looking car, but I'd prefer the BRZ... I'd really like to drive one.
