05 gmc sierra water issue.

hello everyone, I guess first off if anyone has a gmc/chevy truck i wanted to know if anyone esle has had this issue. yesterday i was cleaning the cab of my truck out and i noticed that my driver side carpet on my floor was wet. I pulled up the carpet and saw that the carpet pad was dripping wet... no sign of why it could be so wet... i realized that the E-brake cable runs underneath the truck and where it enters the cab it comes through the floor pan through a rubber gromet/gasket. so i got a towel and a hose and soaked the gromet from underneath. well somehow the water is getting through the gromet making the pad and the carpet wet. i am thinking a cheap easy fix will be a silicone bead around the gromet.
Has anyone heard or seen this before, if so what was your fix?
