long time lurker, soon to be new driver... again - houston

A little back story first. I've been a fan of the camaro ever since I was a kid. A dreamed about old school American muscle. And my favorites were the camaros, more specifically the 67. I liked it, even though I found the 69 slightly more attractive, because it was the once that started what I considered the best lineup. Then the nail on the coffin... My first car was a 1983 camaro, with a rebuilt carburetted 305. The doors were from another camaro and I didn't have keys, so I had to go in through the trunk, the drivers seat was held up with a 2x4, and it lasted me 2 months of the summer before it got this awful knock in multiple cylinders. But it was too late, I was officially on love. It may not have been the biggest motor, but with the cam it had running out some straight pipes with no cat, it sounded mean. Its bark may have been worse than its bite, it still had a little bite to it. And with the bright new metallic blue paint and the fat centerline rims in the back with matching skinnys in front, it certainly looked the part. The day I sold it because I couldn't afford to fix it crushed me. And I vowed to one day own another camaro.

When the end of the camaro line was announced, I was hurt, but not crushed, as my favorites had long been out of production anyway. I took it with a grain of salt as all good things must come to an end. But when the announced the 5th gen prototype, I think I heard about it in 07ish, I fell in love all over again. and that's about the time I started lurking camaro5. I noticed anytime I googled "camaro news" the best stories came from these forums. But 2010 was too long to wait for a new car. Ended up getting an 04 srt-4 as a placeholder. Cheap and quick until the camaro came out. Unfortunately the dealership I ordered it from tried to screw me on my trade in, and when I refused sold the car I ordered out from under me. I decided to use ask of my excess finances from that point to pay off my car so next time I wouldn't have that issue. Even when things started messing up with the srt, I tried to "gimp it along" until I could sell it. Needless to say the didn't go so well. I ended up with the car practically undrivable, no money, no transportation to make money. The only option I felt I had was to crawl to the nearest dealership and trade it in. Suck up the loss for my stupidity. And at this point in my life it was more beneficial to get a truck.

Well now I have come to a point in my life where owning a practical used truck, and a brand new camaro are well within my means. With that being said I am the future owner of a 2013 victory red 2SS/RS. This time I'm going in with financing in hand -.o I need to get the order number so I can get progress updates on it. I'm curious if what the salesman told me is true, that it should be delivered mid August. Everyone else I've seen has said late Dec/early Jan for the 13 model.

But that's my story, if you read all that ramble, thanks haha. TL;DR: last paragraph has the most important stuff.

Terryble, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thank you thank you, feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. Minus when I'm working (most the time), I've spent every minute awake looking at Camaro stuff. Once I get the order number I'll keep the updates on my sig, and of course once it comes in pictures will be posted. Unfortunately best case scenario, it still won't be in until after camaro5fest.
