2008 NAIAS dates announced
Don't know when they were announced, but here they are, and a little more (not much, yet) on the site:
http://www.naias.com/ January 13-15 Press Preview January 16-17 Industry Preview January 18 Charity Preview January 19-27 Public Show Why do I care? Besides all of the other "cool" cars. I'm hoping, and wishing, and praying to see the ZR1, the new Gen V engine, and the production-model Camaro (or something 5th gen Camaro-related) I also wanted to share that this is 2007 was the second time in a row that Chevrolet has taken the concept car of the year award. 2006 : Camaro concept 2007 : Volt Concept |

How crazy would it be if they cast 10 (or however many they needed) fiberglass bodys to show off the color choices?
But your right, I'll settle for almost anything at this point. |

Well GM looks good to sweep the NACOTY awards again. I wouldn't be surprised to see an alpha or another Zeta based concept there, and I'm sure the production G8. And we all know by now the ZR1. Should be a great show this year.

If anyone wants to grab me a ZR1 hero card from the show and stick it in the mail to me, let me know.

Noooooooooooooooooooooo......was this confirmed from somebody inside GM that it wont be there, or, is it just a feeling that its not gunna be there, lol. I have a feeling the way things have been with the new Camaro it wont be there... the car probably still isn't even finalized I guess for it to be there.... had my hopes high I suppose.

I seriously doubt it will be there. There's still too much to be done and final decisions to be made to have a production model done. Like Scott had said before, there's tons of road testing that goes into brand new models to make sure that it'll actually all work together. For one small example, wind testing w/ side mirrors..gotta make sure they don't cause unnecessary wind noise (howling) when driving at all speeds. There's tons to do and I don't expect to see anything production. I also think it would be kinda odd for GM to bring out another special built Camaro just for a show only. It would cost a lot of money only to have even more things change after they show it to the public. They probably don't want to give a bad impression. Plus, the new Mustang is surely being desined by a team over at Ford. There's no reason for GM to release more details about something a year out only to give Ford a heads up on what they have to compete with.

Yup, a lot can change in one year. My money is still on an LA Auto Show debut (and trust me, if it is, I'll be camped out on the sidewalk beforehand to be the first one in), but if its launch is in the later half of the first quarter, next year's NAIAS is still a possibility.

It all comes down to timing. LA is a huge show, and the largest market in the U.S., so it is still a very fitting venue. Plus, it will still get its spotlight at the NAIAS when it wins NACOTY, so no worries there right?
