Speeding Ticket

Got a speeding ticket this past Friday coming back from N.C. (State Trooper) In my wife's mini-van of all things.

Today!! I get SEVEN letters from Lawyers wanted to represent me in court to get the costs reduced. Really? A ticket on Friday in N.C. and seven letters from seven different law firms? Is this system totally rigged?

I mean is the police ticket system hooked into the Law Firms computer systems to get letters spit out that fast?

Bet I get a bunch more tomorrow.

Well tickets are public record and some lawyers have their aids go through them and send out those letters trying to make a quick buck. Be careful of those "ambulance chasers" as they used to call lawyers that use these methods to drum up business.

You dont need a lawyer to reduce a ticket in NC. Give the DA a call.

This happened to a buddy of mine last year just west of Kitty Hawk. Maybe someone from North Carolina can verify/refute this, but I think NC has some sort of mandatory court appearance deal with speeding tickets (might depend on the seriousness of the infraction). So if you have to go to court, but don't want to travel back to NC, then you'll need a lawyer to go in your place. My friend picked one from the dozen letters he got and sent a lawyer to court for him and ended up paying a total of around $300 for doing 68 in a 55 (at least that's what he said)

Well in this case they would have to be otherwise they would never know who got a ticket and get their address.
