Car Manufacturer Quality Report: Chevy average but Ford tanked per say.

Read this on Yahoo about a listing of car manufacturer quality report done by J.D. Power and Associates. Interesting read and nice to see that GM is doing mighty well, especially with Cadillac, GMC and Chevy which are average to above but surprised to see how low Ford is on their report. It did put a smile on my face from what Ford proclaims in its products but still a little bit of a bummer. Keep up the great work GM and Chevy! Check it out.

Wow the average is every car has more than one reported problem.

quality data

Ford got gigged on "software bugs" because of issues with the "Meet Ford Touch" software.

THe Ford Mustang won its class in Total Quality. Go Figure

The Ford Touch started as a huge failure. Cases of blue screen of death & rebooting issues while driving when it first arrived. Quite frankly I stopped paying attention because it kept me from touching (pun!) an Edge.

I can see the first three months of ownership being important on some cosmetic & user interface issues but it doesn't mean much when it comes to the overall quality of build. No way an average Jag is going to have the same life as a Chevy or even Ford.

As a former Lexus owner I can attest they're good but not near perfect. And when they do have problems they're ton more costly.

The problem with the JD Power study is that it can be anything from someone saying the ride is too stiff, to them not understanding how to use the electronics, it is not actual problems and for me that is a problem lol.

I can't for the life of me believe any of these surveys like this. The fact of the matter is, everybody has issues. Lemons happen.

I would just flat out not drive them but if I was in the market for a Smart Car or a Fiat this survey would not deter me. People want what they want.

I think for the most part, cars now-a-days are pretty reliable.

The most important thing to take away from this (regardless of whatever flaws the survey may have) is how small the spread is from top to bottom. Based on the results, the best brands will have about 1 problem per car while the worst are going to have 1, maybe 2. Just shows how narrow the gap truly is.

methinks people shouldn't use bombastic terms like "per se", "voila", "yea or nay" etc. unless they can spell it.
