Any chance GM could sell Pontiac division ?

Bad Plan....sell a division that will directly compete with you??? The pontiac div would have to but the camaros from GM them modify them to be firebirds, correct? Wouldn't that make the firebird a VERY expensive vehicle??

they wont sell pontiac because like others said it would then compete. But they might sell if they got a huge profit. But the thing is if they sell pontiac it will just be the name, they arent going to sell the manufacturing assests. I worked at GM and its not like they have pontiac pure plants. The same plants make the same parts for all GM cars and they assemble them all at the same plants as well. Because when i worked on the wheel house those all were on the same line and they went to bonnevilles, montes, buicks etc. What you dont realize is a lot of parts on different cars ie pontiac chevys buicks are the same parts. Only thing that is different is the body panels. But i think if they would have came out with a firebird a year or to ago, it might have saved pontiac. In my opinion they should have axed buick and kept oldsmobile

i think if the camaro is a hit we might see a chevelle. But a lot of people say Obama wants to kill all V8 i dont think thats his intent. I think his idea is that cars become more efficient and eco friendly which i dont think is out of line. I mean if we can send somebody to the moon theres no reason why we cant make an engine that has 500hp and gets 25-30mpg

there is no logical reason to do that...its all in the name of the environment being poisoned by co2 which is a shady unproven science to begin with

why mortgage our economic future for something that isn't proven

and obama must not realize that suv's and bigger cars always outsell smaller cars

the markets will realize when we have to become more fuel efficient...the government should never force it and we're not running out of gas either thats another myth as well

I could see maybe a small time after market mod company buying the rights to the name so they could produce firebirds but a large manufacturer? No way.
