worth buying an old car?
Hi everyone
,I would just like to know if its worth buying an old camaro SS or Mustang SVT maybe 2001 model? I can affoard a new camaro which I'm deeply inloved with and deeply considereing one. However a friend suggested I go for an old sports car as this would be my first sports car + first time in a manuel car. I have always been a 4X4 guy and automatic. So is it best if I get an old one and get used to driving a manuel sports car and then go for a new camaro? Or in 4-5 years time ( till I finish college ), it would be considered very old? I have seen a 2001 SVT with about 70K miles and for $13 K is that worth it? In addition I have also seen a 2002 or 2001 ( i can't remember) camaro SS with 50 K miles for roughly 15K. However, the car has many mods. Just for the record, even If i got a stang, my opinion would never ever change. Chevys are better than ford. PS: I don't mean to provoke any ford guys, but thats just my opinion

If you can afford a new Camaro, then there is only one thing you should do.

Buy a new Camaro or Mustang. Got my 2010 Mustang and it was the first time I have attempted to drive stick, and only stick car I've ever driven.

i suggest getting a manual car and not a manuel car.
i hear manuel cars are particularly lazy and never get the job done. the good thing is that they are cheaper |

![]() as for the OP, if its your first manual get a used car. learning to drive stick on a new car is just going to cost you a lot in the long run. If you learn a stick on a new car eventually you are going to have to get the clutch replaced (sooner rather than later). With an older car you can just run it into the ground and not worry about it. Also another thing to consider is being young enough that you are just going into college the insurance on a new mustang or camaro is going to be totally insane. Even with no tickets and no accidents you are probably looking close to at least several hundred a month just in insurance rates. |

If you are going to burn a clutch up in a new car, you are going to burn a clutch up faster in a used car because the clutch has already been burnt to some point? Where is the logic?

if you want a old car get a late 60s or early 70s (no later than 73) muscle car, if you want a Newer older car then go a head & get a 2001 or something like that,
