1969 Camaro help...

Ok so..........I.......... my brother is looking at a 69 camaro which owner claims is a Z/28. Now It sounds like there is no vin, there is horrible body, and prob needs everything redone. Its only $1000. Is it worth it? What would need done since no vin?

No Vin = no way to prove/disprove it being a true Z body. Either way you've got a snowballs chance in hell as to finding any number matching parts due to the absence OF a number.

Also, you'd probably be looking into 40K just to get it running if it's as bad as you make it sound. IMO, keep walking. You'd be surprised what craigslist and auto trader classics can bring up.

Hmm, is the car complete? Meaning Engine, Transmission, rear end, some of the interior, 1 seat or more? If so, I guess you could try it for 1K. But it'll put the slow in slow tinker. Mind posting a link or pics of what you're working with?

Somebody probably took the VIN and just bought themselves a new Dynacorn replacement body.

Hmm, if you're willing to try it.. 1K for a possible Z body and frame might as well be worth it. After all, if you can dig up the vin plate off of a wrecked body..

Problem solved, right?

Is there a trim tag on the firewall? That will have all option codes on it.

Sounds like to many headaches, but $1000 is really not much if the car has
potential. If you can't get the vin problem solved, I would tell your brother to
keep his money.
