GM to modify 8000 Volts

I just read on MSNBC.COM where GM is making modifications to 8000 Volts to strengthen side inpact and add some coolant monitoring electronics to mitigate this potential fire situation. Maybe this is good news

Yep, they took something that wasn't a problem, and made it a huge deal. They F#$*ed GM on this one. Completely ridiculous.

they need to just let it die already. it's not even a practical model for cars going into the future. should invest in hydro-electric power.

That issue did not bother me in the least, some bodies made a mountain out of a mole hill.

Ironically enough the Volt is the ONLY practical EV out there.

So if you know what the future holds, we would certainly like to hear it.

Hydro-electric, hundreds of years old, doesn't make a car go unless it's and EV. Current battery technology prohibits EVs from doing much more than 50 to 75 miles. The Volt is the practical answer until that future thing actually comes along. I don't think anyone, even GM ever said this was the solution for the future. It's simply the answer until you can get a battery to provide enough range and to recharge quickly. Both technologies that don't exist today and won't exist for at least a few more years.

I would have a volt if someone gave it to me. Great vehicle, just a little out of reach for those who would benefit most. $$
