Voices Should Be Heard
fbodfather wrote:
wellll...........everyone's entitled to their opinion. You too! But.......... A couple of things stand out: >one magazine testing the Camaro and Mustang and Challenger said something along the lines of "The Mustang is invisible........" I drove a Silver SS thru Manhattan on Good Friday -- it stops traffic -- people stop in a cross-walk to take pictures with their cell-phones. Children yell "Bumblebee!!!" TAXI drivers were stopping to take pictures................ So -- I'm sorry you feel that way -- but I've been all over the country -- and judging by the crowds the Camaro pulls in every autoshow -- coupled with the comments I hear as I drive them -- I feel pretty good about the car -- and I also realize that we won't appeal to everyone. You mentioned that you were at the New York autoshow -- what, pray tell, did you have in mind for a display? In addition to "two cars on carpeting" (they were there so you and many others could get in and out of them......... We had an RS on a turntable with a presenter -- We had a podium whereby you could 'build' your own Camaro -- and have the picture sent to your email address....... We had Bumblebee on Display -- both in Camaro and 18 foot autobot form -- with the ability to get a free picture taken with both Camaro and autobot -- ....oh yes - and then there was the OTHER Camaro next to the Transformers display -- so you could look at a production Camaro while waiting to get your picture taken. What did you have in mind to improve the exhibit? (we ARE trying to save money, you know.........) " gtahvit, I can't believe you shut down that thread when the thread creator clearly just stated his opinions in a professional way. fbodfather was reaching out to him for input/feedback and you shut the thread down. Why impede potential progress by "locking up" opportunities for GM to potentially showcase the Camaro in a more effective, fun way? Let everybody respond before you pull the trigger, please. If the guy likes crappy "Rice," so be it, but if he had input on the New York Auto Show's presentation of the Camaro, give him an opportunity to state an intelligent response. If it went further south, at least you gave him a chance. Let's try to keep the bias toned down a little here and be open-minded about constructive criticism as well as objectivity. That really annoyed me, I have to say.

There have been quite a few threads closed or deleted that should have stayed open. Leave the social engineering to Obama-Pelosi. As long as discussions are constructive, entertaining, or both, please let them roll.

I think your troll radar needs some refining. That poster was definitely out to ruffle feathers, nothing more.

I can't quite remember exactly what was all in that thread....although I did read it all. One thing I do know is that when you have two awesome people like Fbodfather and CamaroScotty that feel the need go defend themselves then it probably isn't a thread that should remain open.

It's reckless comments like that that lead to thread closures.

Can this at least get moved to off-topic? Whatever this is about, it no longer has any context and it keeps getting bumped to the top of the queue. Feel free to delete this post to add further confusion :>

I'm not going to speak for GTAHVIT but after looking at that thread, the guy was trying to stir the pot. Second post mentioning that GM is going bankrupt anyway pretty much summed up where he was coming from.
Nothing wrong with having an opinion on anything GM though. There is one Camaro website (that shall go nameless) who had a policy where anything negative about GM or the Camaro automaticaly got you a ticket to banned camp/warning/post delete/thread delete. That basically killed the website and this site had benefited from it. If that policy were to be enforced here as well, I am sure this site would meet the same fate.

I'll throw in my 2 cents here also.
Fbodfather and Camaro Scotty have been pretty darn forthright and upfront about everything they can. (Just my take, but, that's just me.) On the other hand, with all of the pent up excitement about this car, buyers who have put their hard earned money on the table, are true fans of this car with deep ceded passions. I count myself as one of those also. For better or worse, this will usually lead to some form of anxiety about something like this about which we are all very passionate. There really isn't anything wrong with expressing some of those concerns. We all have varying viewpoints. We all have varying expectations, we all have varying needs which we hope to have fulfilled when these cars are in our Driveways. It is called Human Nature. for the most part most of the people posting these concerns are extremely supportive of the Camaro, Chevrolet, and GM. (Pick and rank whichever way you want.) Sometimes, we have to listen and learn from situations where these concerns rise to the top of individual's priorities. It is how things change, improve, and in some cases, decline (depending on your point of view). Am I excited? Heck yes. Am I anxious? Beyond words. Are there things I feel could be improved on the car? Yes. Are there things that I feel could improve in terms of the inter-relationships between the Consumer - Dealer - and Manufacturer. Most definitely. The bottom line to me is that these discussions can and should be open, honorable, and respectful. (As stated in the User Guidelines for this site). With that, I will head off, have a tall cold Soda, and await, the call from my Dealer.
