So, my roomate's pickup got stolen this morning...

At 7:50 am this morning my roomate's Grey 05-07 Dodge RAM 1500 4 door pickup got stolen, he went about his usual cold weather routine of starting his pickup before he goes to work to let it heat up. Well this time he didn't have his key fob to lock it, so he goes back into our apartment to get it (and this is literally about 40-50 feet away from his spot) and as soon as he gets in the doorway he hears his exhaust. He ran out and before he knew it, his truck was already at the end of the parking lot... Apparently they also saw him and they honked the horn at him as they hauled ass away. He called the police seconds later and filed a report.

Additional details of the truck are: 2 cowbells hanging by chain from the trailer hitch, and says LEXXXY in silver capital letters (the kind that Orielly's, Autozone, etc. sell) on the top of the tailgate. He also had a Lenovo laptop, but that's probably gone by now.

So if anybody that lives in the north - upper (Specifically around Amarillo and Canyon) Texas panhandle sees this truck:

Kick their ass and call the local Police Dept.

He told me that was the best damn answer he ever heard.

And that's scary. Who knows what they've done in that car by now. It wouldn't feel the same if my car got stolen, and I got it back.

Sorry to the OP's roomate. That sucks majorly.

could it possibly be friends pulling a prank? If the key fob was inside I would of locked the doors before I closed them.

Maybe he's on OVERHAULIN!

all kidding aside that sucks!

That sucks. Also, if the vehicle is never recovered, his insurance may deny the claim. :(

Leaving it running and warming up unattended is irresponsible.
When and if it is recovered, expect damage and signs of abuse. Hopefully it doesn't cross the border, it will never be seen again.

We did think about that, but his friends know where and when he works, so I don't think they'd do that. He said if they did he was gonna let them go to jail.

I know right? Less than 30 feet away and somebody jumps out and takes it.

Like I said, he usually has the key fob and locks it after he starts it, but this time he forgot about it and just went inside the doorway to get it. Then BAM, somebody took off with it.

Sorry to say but that truck is probably in a chop shop by now or long gone. And i thought this was a good one, pulled directly off the City of Amarillo's police site:
"Amarillo consistently has one of the lowest crime rates of comparably sized cities in the state and nation, which serves as a proven record of its fine police force."

And who ever stole the truck def has balls. Ppl get shot for those kinds of things here in Texas.

But why not lock the doors with the button inside the truck prior to closing the truck door? Then go back to the apartment to get the FOB to unlock the truck door to leave.
