They have done this before...and a lot of the stuff is really not that significant to the collection. Duplicates and stuff that really is not that important to the history of the company (1-millionth Saturn off the line for example) is getting sold to lower the cost of housing the collection.

If I see Firebirds I and II, or the Buick Y-job crossing the block, then I will panic. I have been to the Heritage Center and I cried at some of the cars that I saw there - cars I never thought I would see in person, let alone TOUCH.

We just need to do our part and BUY GM cars and trucks NOW to help them out of this crisis...they can always 'rebuild' the collection at a later date when they are back on their feet!

Considering they sold a first part of their collection on Jan 17, I think they are getting rid of more cars because they are broke and some of them they don't need around anymore. They sold a 1991 Saturn SL1 for $3,850.00 in Jan and i dont think that one will be missed too much.

Edit:After reading the article it looks like GM has diverted some cars from the scrap pile to the auction block.
"But as the economy spiraled downward last year, GM officials realized that instead of sending the vehicles to the scrap yard, they could make money auctioning them off."

Sad news, but I'm glad I'll be there to see them go.

By the way, if anyone needs tickets for the Barrett Jackson, PM me.

Hopefully most of them will find their way to a museum somewhere.

I think Mr. Settlemire has made it pretty clear that HE has dibs on the Silver Concept Camaro...he views that car pretty much as his child. He might get upset if you try to take it from him

But to save him a post: It will NOT be for sale at any time - EVER. The Camaro Concepts are up there with the ellite of the collection.
