Chevy Dealer questions?
OK, I finally talked my wife into going to the dealer tomorrow to look at cars (haven't bought a new one since 2002
). I would like some suggestions on good questions to ask the salesperson, to make sure that they know what they are trying to sell me. We are going to look at the Cruze and Malibu for sure and maybe the Volt. I've had salespeople in the past talk out of their (_!_) and I've had 1 young salesman who knew everything I wanted to know(he no longer works at the Chevy Dealer :( ). If I can work it in, I'm going to try to get a test drive in a new Camaro convertible.... Like... What platform are they on and where are they assembled? I want a sales person who knows what they are selling.. Also on the list to look at.... Buick Verano, Regal GMC Terrain Ford Fusion, Focus Lincoln MKZ Thanks. |

My personal opinion, I think you need to narrow it down to what type of vehicle you want before you visit dealers. You suggest you might be interested in SUV's, mid size sedan's, small comuter cars, electric, Lincoln luxury, and sporty Camaro convertible.
You are all over the board, and I don't think the dealers will consider you a serious buyer, if you're not even sure what type of vehicle you want. Search the internet and narrow down the type of vehicle you really want to buy. Decide what options you want, go to the "build your own" sites and see what the msrp will be for your vehicle. You can also use the internet to find out dealer invoicing, dealer incentives, holdbacks, etc. If you're trading a vehicle, find out what the avarage trade value is. If you think your salesperson is going to know everything about every model, you may be disappointed. I'm not saying they shouldn't know, but it's unlikely that they will. That's why you need to know, so you don't get taken. Most everything you will need to know you can most likely find on the internet. The more info you are armed with when you actually visit the dealer, you will be able to negotiate intelligently and more likely to get the best deal. JMHO

Most salesman dont know everything about the cars the sell just the basics IMO. Dont forget that a new malibu comes out next year better quality better gas milage. Does ur wife have to drive in snow alot? or just a lil cause might wanna consider a small awd suv.

do your research ahead of time as I got a cruze and drove it for 6 months and traded it in on a Camaro SS vert. The cruze got great gas mileage and I had zero issues just could not get over the fact that it felt small to me and also that it shifted into neutral at a stop and felt to me like it took forever to accelerate. My weekend car is a 800hp 2010 grandsport so maybe i needed more then the cruze could offer.
