Tell me About Somewhere You Live or Have Visited

Here's something that may be fun and informative.
Tell me something interesting about where you live or somewhere you have visited.

Maybe a historical event that happened there, or a famous person who was born there or lived there at some point.

Is there an attraction there that I have to see before I die?

Edit: I'm going back to modify because of these incredibly striking pictures that have been posted, so please, include pictures if it applies.

I live in Aiken SC. This is a quaint little town and is very friendly. It has been said that the road/driveway to "Tara" in Gone with the Wind was filmed here on our South Boundary Rd. I have no reason to believe otherwise, but it could just be heresay

That is interesting.

Reminded me of this. Steve Young(singer) wrote the song Seven Bridges Road which was made very famous later by the Eagles. It is rumored Young was inspired to write the song after a trip down a road near Montgomery, Alabama. Wikipedia says Young has never officially confirmed that.

Here's something.. I am currently deployed and just visited the Dead Sea... mmm I know most of you probably know this but just in case.. I couldnt go under the water.. First.. the salt content is terrible. I mean a littel water on ur mouth and its bad.. then everything just floats.. I had my sunglasses on and they fell of my face.. turn around.. they were just chilling on top of the water
