couple things, as a computer technician and a system builder i can say this for sure, take anything Scott@Bjorn3D says as the word of god...lol...awesome site Scott!

Now as for your card, yea seems like it might be on its way out, but there are a few things u can try first.
1. Make sure the graphics card is properly seated in its slot on the motherboard.
2. Make sure the monitor cable is securely attached at both ends (monitor and graphics)
3. Inspect the graphics card heatsink for excessive dust, which might cause overheating (i believe your card has a large plastic cover over the heatsink, so do the best you can, if it seems bad use some compressed air and a vacuum)
4. Make sure the power cable is properly seated (though this is unlikely to be the problem, check anyways...lol)
5. If you can try a different monitor cable, or try the monitor with a different computer if you can/use the computer with a different monitor, it is possible the problem lies with the monitor

As for getting a new card, my personal favorite at the moment is the ATI 4870, it has a geat bang for the buck, i personally have one, and i love it. If its a bit out of your price range the ATI 4850 is also a good choice. I could give you a better recommendation if i knew the rest of the specs of your computer...no sense getting a monster of a card if your computer cant keep up!

what kind of computer do you have at the moment?, if your just a casual gamer with a modest computer the ATI 4850 or the Nvidia 9800 GTX could be had for around the 220 mark (dont scoff at the price fellow board members...that's Canadian dollars..LOL) Personally i think the Sapphire ATI RADEON HD 4870 1024MB is an awesome deal, the can be found around the 260 mark, and is, as i said, an awesome card

make sure it's plugged into the pci slot all the way. check that the fan still spins. if all that's good then scott's right, it's dying.

Funny, I've only ever had problems with ATI cards in the past, never NVIDIA.

Right now I run a 9800 GTX and am very happy with it. Can be bought for the low 100's range.

man am I slow, I JUST got the joke . I just recently built a new PC from scratch and it has a 512mb onboard nvida 6100 video card which is DECENT. but I plan on putting in a dedicated vid card in the future. my board can run a PCI E both the long and short slots. I am looking at a 8 or 9 series nvidia. I have had VERY good luck with the last 2 i had in my machines (a 5200 and a 5500). I want at LEAST a 512mb card but if i can score a good deal online then i will get a 1gig .
