Trying to build more muscle
So I am looking for some help to build more muscle, but do not know where to start. I am not looking to get all juiced up or looking like a body builder, just a bit more mass. So where do I start? I was thinking about getting a gym membership and trying to hit the gym when I can since I have a very busy schedule. Right now my diet is whatever I can buy because I am always on my college campus and then I go straight to work where I bring a sandwich and a drink for my lunch break. Any help would be great

You will need to do weight bearing excercises, whichever you will stick with. If you have limited time you need to do squats, lunges, bench press (or push ups) at a minimum. Have you heard of Kettle Bells? Check them out, it is a tremendous work out. Persistance is the key, you must keep up with this every week. No skipping weeks and then jumping back in. |

Unfortunately building muscle isn't something you can do without a routine and hours in the gym. You may be able to tone up a bit at home doing Push-Ups, Sit-Ups, Lunges, etc. But you will not be putting on much muscle unless you can spend hours in the gym 3-5 days a week and eat enough protein to support muscle growth.

What would be a good start for a weekly work out? Ive seen those Kettle Bells before and they look like an intense work out. Would every other day be to much to start out with?

Simple core exerises. Eat alot of protein.

Try to start off slowly, and if possible, find a good workout partner. To avoid getting discouraged and quiting, make gaining strength the motivator, rather than gaining muscle mass. That was what kept me going....As you get stronger, the muscle mass will eventually follow.
As a very skinny kid, I dabbled in weight-lifting with the cheap plastic weights starting in 8th grade....got discouraged real quick, not seeing quick results. Gave it up, but then in 10th grade, starting working out with friend who had awesome weight room with the good stuff...York weights.....Worked out 3 days a week. Realized that the key wasn't to see "immediate results" but rather to see strength improve steadily, week after week. That became the motivator, and the results followed that. One of the most empowering things I've ever done in life was to find within me the determination to put the work in, and transform from a very skinny kid, to having a respectable physique. I eventually had a 6 day workout regimen, and gained approx 60 pounds of muscle over 3.5 years, from high school to college.

Listen to your body, it will tell you when you have had enough. You will find out that the harder you are working, the more important your diet and SLEEP will become. You HAVE to get adequate rest, or all of the work will be for not.
