OT-Dodge build quality

Daughter and SIL are looking for a midsize, AWD SUV. They ask me to do a little research because they know I'm a bit of a gear head. Criteria 1. Must be US, not foreign built and owned. Basically, GM , Ford, Chrysler. 2. Good price. In doing research I came across the Dodge Journey. Looks like a hell of a deal. How is Dodge quality?

Zach- I'm a GM and Camaro guy, but....

the GMC Acadia, for example, which is a great vehicle, is 38K vs. the Dodge which is 31K. As much as I love GM, don't know whether the extra $s are worth it. I won't even look at Fords. For one thing, they call the new Exploded a 4WD when it is a AWD. Don't like BS advertising.

Well, if they are prepared then this should never be a problem. Of course we know that they are not. Well, they can't all be like BeckyD!

I have a motto: stay away from Chrysler products. I live and die by this motto. Take it to the bank.

Journey's are pretty nice, I've generally heard good things about them... Not my cup of tea but the nice to drive.

Another vehicle you could look at is the Pontiac Torrent....they're cheap now since Pontiac was killed. Or you can look at the Ford Edge..

Couple weeks ago we had a hail storm pass through the area, the Dodge dealer had the most damaged cars of all brands.

I have had a half dozen Chrysler products over the years and gotten excellent service from all of them, any new car or truck can have issues, just pick a good dealer...

My experience has always been bad with Chrysler quality. Seems like every car I've driven has had lots of rattles and poor panel fit.
