Too political for a Sunday night for me, besides there is a great hour long Family Guy episode on.

They are a huge corporation that does business all over the globe. They are flush with cash so they are investing in themselves. Don't get caught up in the political BS spewing from both sides. Lets not overlook these recent headlines.

GM investing $131 million in Kentucky Corvette factory

GM investing $109 million in Michigan Ecotec plant

GM invest more than $200 million in Ohio transmission plant

GM investing $30 million in Michigan stamping plant

etc, etc, etc.....

Doesn't surprise me at all. None of this will change until our government stops making policies that make large companies to not want to produce here.

Does seem a little pricey, but as said above: screw politics.
Besides, I doubt there will be many GM haters on this site.

No, just wanted to see what kind of response. Apex chase's response is the best. I don't see how one investment like that from a pretty global company can tarnish their reputation like the article is intending.

And it's really sad. We need to pass laws that limit a company's capacity out of the country if they are based here or something. It's really hard to buy American all the time too cause you're limited to what's available and it's usually less than domestically produced.

Exactly whose cash are they flush with? It is ironic that they are building low emission engines in Mexico, since that move was probably done in part to avoid emission regulations.

You should ask yourself why that is, though. Why do American corporations need to move some operations outside the US to make money?

Perhaps GM can invest enough in Mexican factories and create enough jobs to keep their people from sneaking into America! Of course, with America's unemployment rate hovering at 10% maybe we'll be the ones sneaking into Mexico for those GM jobs!

Not only that, it's to build "high efficiency" motors to meet the new CAFE standards imposed by the Obama administration. So, Obama gives GM money borrowed on the backs of future generations, GM turns around and invests a large chunk of that borrowed money in Mexican factories to build cars dictated by his administration.

You just can't make this stuff up.

Maybe US workers should take a reasonable wage so these jobs don't go to Mexico? Its about making a buck and not owing things, that's how this all started going to hell in the first place. I sense a lock down coming.
