1. Fire department says they couldn't rule out the Volt, not that it necessarily caused the fire
2. It's a forty year old house with maybe fourty year old wiring. Plug in an electric car and something may just happen

The media, like always, isn't looking at all the parameters here.

First, you have what was just named the Best Engineered Car of 2011 by the SAE parked in the garage and plugged into an electrical system in a 40 year old house.

Secondly, you have a Suzuki Sidekick that the homeowner CONVERTED HIMSELF into an electric car also plugged into the same 40 year old electrical system.

Now...which was more likely to have caused the fire?
