Motortrend: Volt

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

You don't get it, the Volt is not a Prius wannabe, it out does the Prius. It is larger,(About the size of a Camary or Accord) and it's only purpulsion system for the first 40 miles will be the batteries...
the motor will only serve one purpose, to charge the batteries, not to drive the car on. the Prius can't do any of those things right now.
