Need Tune Up Help for 01 Tahoe

Hey everyone

I need some good input on doing the tune up for black beauty, aka the Tahoe. It's a 5.3 liter 2001 Tahoe with 124,000 miles on it. I always try and keep up with the oil changes, every 3-4 k I'll change it with Royal Purple 5w-30 and it runs like a champ. Me and my family will be heading to El Paso Tx in about a month so I wanna start working on her. It's a 13 hour drive and I want her to perform at her best. What do I need to get done for a good tune-up?

suggestions please!

Also I keep hearing about Iridium spark plugs, how do they compare to Platinums? What would you suggest?

I gew up in El Paso. What are you going there for?
And whatever you do do not go across the border.
You might not get any answers tonight, but it seems like you'll be fine for travel, just check your oil and your tire pressure.

with the computer run systems there isnt anything to tune up, but the iridium plugs are supposed to be good from everything i have heard. about the only thing i can think of is maybe running some injector cleaner through it to amke sure everything is running smooth.

Trucks running great (knock on wood) but it has been a bit sluggish. I want to change out the plugs, transmission fluid and filter change and an oil change. I want to go with Royal Purple trans fluid. Anyone use their transmission fluid yet?

your suv

Stick to the recomended spark plugs, thats just me oem trans, my unc uses Royal Purple trans fluid in his race car. no complants, runs good. timing chian or belt, spark plug wires, top off radiator, power brake fluid, Power steering fluid, check all the levels and check the tire pressure. try running 93 oct and octain booster, Zmax or Lucas gas treatment, it may need a fuel injector cleaning try the Zmax or lucas gas treatment and 93 octain first.

Have a fun and safe trip

I've heard about it, scared to use it. How do you use it in your Tahoe?
