power to speed ratio?

I know there must be an equation that will tell you how much power you would need to put into a given car to shave off x number of seconds, but I don't know it. Anybody have any idea how one might figure this out?

I'm just kind of curious how much extra HP a camaro would need to shave off that extra .3 second acceleration to catch up to the 5.0 mustangs.
