This is a good move. It shows that the next line of new cars will be a fuel efficient one, just like the plan says.

For everyone who said the Volt was vaporwire...

For everyone who said that GM would never build the Volt...

For everyone who said that the E-Flex system would never work...

WHAT NOW?!

Pretty dramatic statement. I hope Congress recognizes what they have the opportunity to support. Maybe some of them will decide that it is time to give the home team a little love when they've been subsidizing the foreign brands in their states for years.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

^No kidding!

I CAN NOT wait for congress to ask what their travel arrangements were!

INCREDIBLE free press for GM over the Volt.

"Why thank you very much for asking how I got here today, Senator -_____. Now it's my turn to make YOU look like the @sshole!"

Dumb asshats should've done that to begin with.

It still shows that GM's go their proverbial thumb up their asses that this plan wasn't their FIRST STRIKE.

I mean, private jets to beg for billions!?!? That's like going to speak at a PETA conference wearing a fur!

giving 700 billion to banks with no restrictions is even worst..

It's even worst than Al Borlan's acting career after Home Improvement.

Other than celebrities and affluent tree-huggers, who do you think is going to spend $35k-$40k on an electric car?

I guess it would depend on what you would call "affluent". 35-40k on a 4 door car, regardless of how it is motivated (electric, IC engine, thrust vectored...j/k) isn't exactly what I would call a stretch, depending on how it's appointed and built. As the technology gets proven and becomes more available, the prices will come down. Just remember, though, that the Volt development wasn't fully government funded like the Toyota Prius, so the cost has to be absorbed somewhere. :flag2:

An electric car that goes 50 Frickin miles before using a single drop of gas. Yes it is a more expensive than expected, but when the first plasma 60" TV came out how much was it, 7000$.What kind of tv can i get Today, a much better tv, same size, 2200 dollars, get my point. Its the first production run, I expect things to change like, weight of the car, products to make the car will get cheaper, products will get lighter, some govt money, and technology will get easier to make, Maybe a different model, a compact model that makes it cheaper, IDK what the future will give us, but i guess we will see when GM shows that they have been working on a solution to the problem and actually making it happen.
