Retro USA Gill insert mod.

Well i finally put them on the car after some debate if i should or not. First off i'd like to say these are ridiculously overpriced at $200 and on the surface appear to be of decent quality. Closer inspection reveals they are absolutely no better than the fake chrome plated plastic trim pieces you get in a model kit. Yep you can even see where the plastic tabs are snapped off on the back just like a model kit. Next, while the matte black inside finish is "painted on" It's painted even worse than our camaros are. These cannot be rubbed in any way shape or form during washing or the black will wipe right off on your mitt. I predict the black will last maybe 6 months if you virtually never touch it. If something gets on it and you need to rub to get it off. You might as well keep on rubbing all the black off cause it's gonna be gone on first rub.

Next, the install is pretty easy and they do stick on very well. The 3M tape strips are nice. Word to the wise. Do not pull hard on the tape tabs as they are very brittle and break off easy.

Lastly, i think they look pretty decent when they are on and do give that old school feel. Just not worth the cash. I will enjoy them until they look like crap as the certainly will in probably short order. Then remove and go to something better like real metal. At least it looks better than the vinyl ones i have seen. If you find any like these on eBay for cheaper. Try those as these can't possibly be much better but cost more than double the price.

Those dont look bad,but I would of been pissed with the junk they sent me and sent it back.
$200 for something, it should be top notch

I've had mine on for 8 months & so far the "chrome" has held up well. The black has a couple of chips even with the splash guards on - no different than the 1st Gen Gill Louvers I've seen at car shows.

Pricey as they are I am satisfied & they give me the look I wanted + RetroUSA was easy to work with on the order process.

Those remind me of all the stick on fender vents. No matter the quality, they all look like cheap, stick ons. Sorry, just my opinion.

To each their own man. Like i said i don't care for the stickers most people put in there. That looks even cheaper IMO. But, hey we all get what we prefer. I really wanted the 69 feel and the sticker ones don't give that vibe at all.

I totally agree with the cheap factor and overpriced...my thoughts exactly when installing them last weekend...however unless you really look at them closely, they look pretty good..

I was aslo on the fence on whether I should install them or not, figured I could always remove them I didnt like them.
