new 2018 Mustang GT...its time for the camaro to step up?

ok so the 2017 mustang its finally revealed, 10 Speed for GT and 4 cyl, upgraded suspensión and option for magnaride and active Exhaust... also a revisted New 5.0 capable of high Rev and more fuel economy.... and the 350 getting an A7 speed build for track... Do you think the camaro should be upgraded or its fine at it is...

For me the current Six SS can goe head to head with the new Mustang and the AWD new Challenger but... still thinking why on earth is not GM upgrading the Transmisión on the SS? that 8 speed is not as bad as the older A6 camaro but its def a dumb move... sadly I think this will improve mustang Sells even more as the only fail on the current mustang has been fixed compared to the camaro...

lol. Come on man it even says 2018 in the title of the video you linked. It's the 2018 Mustang the 2017s are already out.

I'm not a Camaro fanboy although it is my favorite...fanboy I'm not. Mustang is a nice car, but in my opinion the majority of new stuff being added to the Mustang will only help to put it on par in terms of performance and features, with very few things that the Camaro doesn't already have or very nearly match in some way.

By the way...I don't recall seeing any details on the 2018 Camaro dropping yet. I could be wrong, but how do we know the 2018 model won't get a 10 speed? We will for sure see it on the 2019 model, and even if that's the case that's only a year behind the Mustang....not that the 8 speed doesn't already offer great performance....much better than the A6 in the 2017 and older Mustang and the 5th gen Camaro. But never fear, we'll see the 10 speed soon. The ZL1 already has it, and so its sure to trickle down. If we don't see the 10 speed within 2 model years I'll be absolutely shocked.

With that in mind, I voted for the option that the Camaro could only use minor updates. It does not need anything big at this point at all.

What changes would the Camaro need to make? This new Mustang is just playing catch up to what the Camaro has been for 2 years, and I would guess that it still won't match the performance of the Camaro.

I watched that video last night and thought the exact same thing. Magnaride? Variable exhaust? My SS already has those. I would bank on GM making the A10 available on the '18s as an option on the SS, but for now the A8 is just fine with me. If I wanted the A10 that bad I'd order a ZL1.

I'm sure the 10spd is coming for the SS but probably not till 2019 when the camaro may get its mid cycle refresh. GM has stated that 8 models will be getting the 10 spd in MY 18. More than likely this will be the trucks and large SUV. Not sure if the camaro will get it or not. Since the mustang is getting the 10spd might be a better chance now the camaro SS will be getting it too.

Maybe a 10- speed is NOT that much better than an 8- speed, or even a 6- speed. There's lag time while shifts occur, and more gears= more parts to break. If you keep adding more and more gears, eventually you'll end up overcomplicated, overshifting, overweight, and unable to keep up with the cars that have fewer gears, but are IN gear and going.

I'm not saying, "The 10- speed is bad." I AM suggesting that more is not necessarily always better, unless it's important for bragging about at cars and coffee (but, rumor has it, Mustangs will soon be outlawed from attending those events... 'nuff said).

Maybe... maybe we should hope for a CVT in a Camaro... think about it: an INFINITE number of gears!
