How do I use a jack to move a car?
Hey everybody
There's a dead c4 vette in the garage of my house. It's a two car garage and the vette is over the half way mark in the garage making it hard for another car to fit. Basically I just want to move it over a few yards to the right closer to the wall. Like I said though, the car is dead and has not been driven in a while. The stickers expired in 2008. I've never used a jack before so where would I put it under the ca?. This is something I really need to get done so any help is appreciated. |

You need to get the car up on some carts like these and push it over. If you have never used a jack before you may want to get help or go to a repair shop, maybe one that has a towing service, they may be able to help.

I don't know, I would have to look at their website. Maybe you can rent these from one of those tool and equipment rental places?

on the molding on the front of the car is two arrows - put a rubber puck or something to help space it off the molding - be careful but jacking it there will lift both wheels off the floor on a C4. Just be careful as it sounds like you are not really experienced and you could either damage the car or hurt yourself quickly with a vette.

Probably easiest with a floor jack, I would read the owners manual or search the web or a corvette site or get under the car and see where a safe and secure spot is to place the jack. Don't want to damage anything or get hurt because the jack was not placed correctly. Once it is on the carts and if it is on smooth concrete, one person can push it. Don't push it into the wall. May go easier than you think.

you just place it between the jack and the frame be careful it is easy to hit the floor on a vette - find you someone to keep and eye out for you do not attempt this alone if you are inexperienced
