RC rock crawling truck information wanted.
I have been thinking of getting a RC Rock Crawler to run on the hill in my back yard.
Anyone have any experience with them? I want to know what price range am I looking at. I don't need it to be fast but have 4 wheel drive to climb over rough terrain. Should I look for gas or electric powered, how long is run time? Suggestions to which ones are best buys would be appreciated. Thanks.

I like playing around with RC stuff. I've crashed two planes and about four helicopters. I'm just in it for fun; I couldn't tell you anything substantial on the subject. I do like going to Tamiya's site from time to time to see what they got. Here is a rock crawler that is discounted:

That looks cool, but from the video it appears to be more of a stadium truck than a rock crawler!

This place sells it:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...rawler-w-24GHz I've been buying my toys from Tower Hobbies for the past two decades. I have never had a issue with them, unfortunately they don't carry this one. You will have to do your homework and find a good website to buy from. If you have a local hobby shop they can probably order you one, which would help support you're local hobby store. Sadly with the internet it hard for the local shops to stay in business.

With planes I try to buy the kits online and the fuel, batteries, and the small odds and ins locally. But locally means 40mins into the next county. The only reason that guy is still in business is because he is known for his meets. People drive across the state to see jets and helicopters fly! I'd just be careful with who you decide to buy from, there are a lot of scammers out there trying to make a quick dime! |

Sounds good. I've always liked the rock crawlers, but living in the upper coastal plain of Georgia... I would have to go and buy the rocks!!

I went to my local hobby shop this morning. They only had one rock crawler in stock. It looked good but it had a generic body. It was $299 and they wanted $30 for a battery and 20 for a charger. Then I would need to pay tax on that. I am going to price the same one on line to see if I can save anything.
