HELP - Need a camper shell....

I know there are some really resourceful people here....so I need help. My son has been medically retired from the Army. He is moving back to Alaska to be with his 2 yr old daughter and go to school. He needs a camper shell to keep his belongings safe in the back of his Toyota Tundra pick up. Any ideas on where we can get one? He will also need snow tires when he drives up through Canada. Yes, I said drive.....he did it 2 years ago from AK to CA in January.........anyone have ideas?

Lots of places that sell campers will have a few new ones.

If he's on a budget, try calling salvage yards nearby.

Might try Craigslist and any local penny saver type papers.

Also the two major companies who make them are Leer and A.R.E

Thanks for the ideas. Craig's list is tough here, because he's in the high desert and Los Angeles is waaaayyy to big to navigate. We'll try the RV dealers.........

Craigslist is the way to go. A few years ago, I had a Tan shell on my green Silverado. On Craigslist, I found a guy with a tan truck, and a blue shell... He wanted mine, but I didn't really want blue on my green truck. So, we posted together, and, all be damned if we didn't find a guy with a blue truck, and a green camper shell! We organized a meet in a parking lot, took a few before pics, then played our "shell game," and all three of us drove home with the correctly color matched camper shells... straight trade, all the way around. (Sorry... I'll try to find the pics.... I know, I know... worthless without pics and all/....)!
