with gas prices high here is the delemma
Recently I had sold my house but 4 days prior to it closing the deal it fell through. this would have cut my commute down from 90 miles a day to 12..... well now we are back to square one and the 90 mile commute continues.
right now I have 2 vehicles I drive I have a 1999 dodge dakota extra cab truck which gets maybe 17 mpg and the 2011 camaro rs v6 which i average maybe 22 mpg both of these cars are killing me in gas right now I also have a 98 harley softail custom which it gets around 40 mpg but to be honest commuting on it isnt the funnest thing in the world plus if it rains then i can get screwed on my ride home.... I am considering selling the harley and the dakota and buying something like a ford fiesta that gets close to 40 mpg that I can drive the wheels off of. the draw back is I wont have a truck which I sometimes do need. I surf and I know taking the surf board on a fiesta will be interesting as well as if i decide to go spearfishing because the scuba gear is alot. i have also thought about maybe a smaller truck like a nissan or toyota with a 4 cyl motor but the mileage will be maybe 25 mpg at best in any kind of truck..... anyone have any ideas on this? I will tell you this really sucks because had my house deal went through i would not even have to consider anything here

I drive Fiesta sedan as my DD and get the 40 plus miles per gallon you looking for (41.6 currently). The storage capacity of the trunk in the sedan is surprisingly high you might want to check out the pic on my profile. The hatch gets even more storage and probably meet your needs quiet easily.

Sell what you want, but find an 80s chevette stick, great mileage and room to haul. Then get a smaller bike, like a 250 Virago for near 100 MPG.
And don't be a girl and ride in the rain ![]() I just want to see action, you can prove it not supply and demand. when it was $180 a barrel it was only $4 a gal, but $108 is $3.80 a gal 2+2= price gouging inflation is not that high, bread would be $5 a loaf, milk $10 a gal too |

I ride my harley some days when I know there is less than 20% chance of rain, I know here in florida it's a tuff call some days but really I would just ride the harley as many days as you can especially now before rainy season hits. I did it last year when we had this issue and it worked great I get about 200-220 miles to tank of gas on my carbureated fatboy.

Chevy Cruze, in my humble opinion, looks a TON better than the Fiesta and also gets great mileage. 26 City, 36 hwy. Also, Cruze ECO (not sure if this is available yet?) gets even better mileage at around 28 city and 42 hwy. *edit* and yes, the Cruze ECO is indeed available now (according to Chevy.com anyway)

I commute 80+ miles one way M thru F. Best solution for me is... look for another job. Its insanity and tiresome to communte that far. been doing it for 18 months now and it simply isnt worth it.
