** CAUTION ** Member classifieds

Everyone, please be careful when selling or paying for products in the classifieds. I'm embarrassed to say that for the first time in my life, I got taken and am now $250 poorer.

I put up a post - WTB Carbon Fibre Fuel Door. I received a text the next day saying that they had one for sale. We negotiated price and shipping and all looked good. I requested a picture of the item along with my name and date written besides the product. This was provided. I asked to send via PayPal for protection, but they said they only have E-Transfer.

I sat on it until the next day and decided to go ahead after texting back and forth. Well, 3 days later and they have ghosted me. Thankfully it wasn't a ton of money.

A couple of days later, I was looking through the classifieds and guess what? there is CF fuel door for sale. I won't go into details, but this was also a scam. Being extra cautious, I asked them to post a new picture on the listing with my name and date on it. They gave me some BS saying they were not currently able to log-in. Whatever....

All I can say is be careful.

Agreed 100%. Try to do business with established members who have some history on the board. Unless you actually, personally, know them stick to PayPal Goods and Services or the like.

E transfer is an automatic red flag. ALWAYS use a payment method that offers buyer protection with people you don't know.

I have 2 that were economically done. The one on the car is a CF wrap that I applied myself. Bought a roll for $10 off of amazon and applied it with a heat gun and trimmed it with a good blade. THe other one I bought off eBay for $50. I've used both.

Just trying to give you more economical options.

Sorry for your loss. that sucks friend...

You're well aware now but...
- Never use cash pay methods like E-transfer
- Private messages with no post history is a dead giveaway
- Don't ever post your phone# for random people scam on. That comes later if needed.
- Soon as the BS starts... RUN

And please be sure to use the report button for anything you see here so we can investigate and ban.

EDIT: I noticed your phone number is listed on two other posts. You really need to re-examine that. They can log in here and post up. That way at least we have their IP and e-mail address.

Sad you got taken for some cash! But yeah, we have warned people for a while now that when you post a WTB in that section, for whatever reason the scammers come out of the woodwork.. Here is a link to a fuel door cover that is REAL carbon fiber, I have purchased a lot of items from them for my Camaro, and it all looks great, and it is in fact REAL.. Good luck.
