Based on what I have read, it does seem as though those who continue to operate the vehicle with the shuddering problem do risk damaging the transmission. If you can possibly avoid driving it until you get it fixed, I think that is the smart move.

I had the issue with my 2016 SS and my dealer was able to get me in immediately for the new fluid swap, and I never had the problem again.
