No substitute for a DCT. For me it is DCT or manual, no in-between.

Autos have come a long way and can match a DCT on upshifts, but they still lag behind in latency (the time you press the paddle to the actual shift) and downshift. There is just no way an auto that has to change gears will ever be as fast or crisp as a DCT where the gear is already selected and just needs to be engaged.

Granted I know the AMG isn't a DCT, and probably has better programming, but still, you get my point.

Also, the SS 1LE, ZL1, & Zl1 1LE all use a great manual tranny, it is well build and the shifter is short, solid, and precise, and with rev. matching, it just makes the experience as good as you can get SAN a true DCT.
