Changes made to the MR2, ranked from obvious to subtle…
- No longer red. It is orange with Nightfall Grey Metallic accents. Sort of the “yang” to my 2017 Camaro Fifty’s “yin”. Even used the GM paint codes.
- Factory emblems are also Nightfall Grey Metallic
- Threw away the piece o’ crap racer seats. Bought a pair of OEM seats and reupholstered them in black/grey leather and alcantara
- Replaced the Sparco quick release steering wheel with a 3-spoke Toyota Celica GT steering wheel
- Installed a double din CarPlay capable head unit with a rear camera
- Swapped wheels and tires. Now wearing JNC030 wheels and Conti ExtremeContact DWS06 rubber. 215/45/17 on 17x8 wheels in the front, 235/45/17 on 17x9 rear. Enkei set is in the garage for eventual autocross duty.
- Replaced the door cards with less ugly door cards. The red ones the car came with were criminally ugly.
- Affixed Japanese market badges to the fenders.
Spending this year driving it to get used to the driving dynamics before I do anything g to the suspension and powertrain. And for anyone wondering, I have zero plans to K Swap it. Engine seems strong as is. Trans could use some synchro work on the 2-3 and 4-3 shifts, but I’m not sure if I can get ahold of the right parts.
