I drove from Milwaukee to Washington DC in early October, which was about a ~12hr drive (13 with the time zone change). It was my first time visiting anywhere east of the Midwest, so it was a pretty fun experience for me, and the looks I got were nice too haha. I’m driving to the Great Smoky Mountains this spring and hopefully out to Rocky Mountain National Park this fall.
The only problem I really had with the drive was sitting for hours on end, it made me pretty sore. I had to get up and move around every 3-4hrs, but if you’re planning to stop relatively often, you shouldn’t have any problem.
Also reaching up out of the window at toll booths was a pain.
