There should be some insulation/shielding to help with the heat. The only reason I cut mine was because they long tube sat lower than the belly pan. I would leave it and keep an eye on it. Its not thin plastic so it will handle the heat a little better.

If you feel that it will cause problems, then cut around the headers, like I did on mine.
