I'm also not a fan of DI engines. They are great when new but tend to have issues down the road.
Maybe you should try a NA motor and do some mods too get the HP you are looking for.

The only LT motors that were overheating were in the Corvette, and that was due to bad setup on cooling. Nothing in any of the Camaros is overheating, nor in the ZR1.
