If this isn't powertrain, then I don't know what is.
FWIW, I'm past 3-yr/36k, and my dealer covered it under warranty, but as I mentioned further upthread, I had already paid for a transmission flush less than a year ago (with the old fluid) because GM declared this a "maintenance item". Needless to say, if I were charged again less than 10,000 miles later for the same issue, I'd be raising hell.
