When thinking of placement, test it out...i couldnt do it under the steering wheel cause it was too much trouble pulling it up quick enough to use if needed...steering wheel was in the way for me...

I hear you. I'll be new to this so I figure I'll learn the best way for me as I go. I wouldn't be leaving any firearms in it indefinitely though either. My console is rather full too, no way I could fit something else in there. Maybe the door pocket? Or somehow forward of the console on the side of the 4 pack gauges... trying to avoid putting it inside of something I'd have to open first.
