Not what I’m seeing with the Gen3 Coyote that got rolled out in 2018. I researched the hell out of it before buying one. Lot of guys in the 9’s and some in the 8’s with a stock shortblock. Can you have one screw up at that level? Of course.

Oil pump gear replacement seems to more for the guys running 2 steps to launch. Banging off the limiter a lot seems to be more of the issue with the oil pump gears, not a horsepower level thing. There’s a ton to love about the coyote (stock cams to 2000 HP, port and direct injection from the factory, OEM wideband with WOT fueling trim, etc) but there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Eventually if you keep modding, we all have to pay the piper.
