After learning how to do nls properly I started to use it on the long straights, but use regular shifting elsewhere on the track.
With me it kind of depends on the straights but yes I use it and it and it's definitely not going to harm anything long term. It's just a smoother, faster shift however on a road track probably little if any affect on time.

I say keep doing it when appropriate.
