Any idea how quickly the failure typically progresses if it's well maintained and generally parked indoors? I haven't even noticed it anywhere else on the car other than the hood so it must be at the very early stages elsewhere.

Seems like heat and sun must affect it a lot. I live in Wisconsin but was recently in Arizona and saw tons of black Acuras and Hondas out there with the paint completely flaked off the hood and roof.
