Yes it is a pig, just like the new camaro is weighting in at a hefty 3900+ lbs with the SS automatic. They are both pigs but they are fast pigs.
Oh and the mustang's interior isn't that great either. Look at the new RT seats with the ripples in them. IMO I would much rather have a better exterior than interior. Since when have muscle car interiors looked good? That is what modding is for.

I didn't realize that the Challenger R/T used a different tuning of the 5.7 than the Charger R/T did, so I was assuming the two cars shared horsepower and weight, since the SRT-8 models do.
So while my six second estimate is probably three-or-so tenths high, the fact remains that my $25k 320-hp Mustang GT has the same 0-60 time as the $40k 425-hp Challenger SRT-8, and gets about 7mpg better to boot. That's a no-brainer anyway you slice it.
Again, I love the styling of the Challenger, I really do. I have no doubt that one in black will look absolutely bad-ass. However, I'm not as concerned with interior, otherwise I'd buy a C-series or something. I want the most fun car I can get for the cheapest price, and right now the Mustang beats the Challenger hands-down.
...but I'm looking forward to the Camaro. Let's hope they make it tough for the Mustang and price it aggressively.
