My brother and his wife like HOAs...but I think it is because they don't want to maintain their own lawn or clear their own snow. Wasnt sure how to tell them they could pay someone to take care of that elsewhere for a bit less than $200/month!
I live out in the woods - nearest neighbor is across the street, and my house is about 400' away from theirs. Then I'm on 3 acres, and surrounded on 3 sides by 200 acres of conservation land. I think if I parked a junk car at my house, it would be about 6 months before a neighbor even noticed.
