this is what came up..I still dont fully get it though:
Pretend that there are 2 teams, a White team and a Black team. Say a player on White shoots the puck before he gets to the center/red line, and the puck goes untouched to the other teams end, then the referee will put his hand up and blow the whistle. Sometimes the goalie will put his hand up also. But, if the puck is tipped before it makes it to the other teams goal line, they will not call it icing. If the puck reaches the other end and is going very slowly, and players are skating right behind it, the ref could call it off.
