Sign of the times?: 2010 Stang to debut in L.A.

Typically big launches of popular domestics don't take place in L.A., these debuts are usually held in Detroit because of the historical relevance of the state as "motor city". There have been recent conversations of the Detroit show being phased out and others, like L.A. replacing the former as the nations premiere auto show.

DEARBORN, Michigan — Amidst this week's continuing 2010 Camaro hoopla, Inside Line has learned the 2010 Ford Mustang will make its official debut in mid-November at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show. A Ford source close to the project confirmed that the 2010 Mustang will be unveiled in L.A., and not in Detroit as originally expected.

Ford has not yet released photos of the new Mustang, but spy shots of the heavily camouflaged Mustang prototypes have been circulating on the Web since last fall.

The 2010 Mustang will be unveiled to the media on November 19-20, and the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show opens to the public on November 21.

What this means to you: Thanksgiving weekend will be Ford's biggest holiday this year. — Kelly Toepke, News Editor
