I understand wanting fewer pieces of paper (well kind of, I really don't care what I get back as long as the change is correct, and I don't mind getting $1 bills cause at least I won't have to feel like an idiot paying for something that was $1.99 with a card), but I really don't think I would've made that connection had I been the cashier. She would've gotten back her two $1 bills, a $5 bill, three $1 bills, and 2 pennies. I understand that's inconvenient for her, but like I said, it's not their job to read your mind.

In any case, like I said originally, the cashier doesn't sound like she's dumb, she just didn't understand the intent in this situation. I mean I've done the same thing in the past when I knew I'd need a single bill for something later on, but I've always let them know what I needed.
