With the LS3 engine and other options the SS is more comparable to the G8 GXP. In the past Chevy included the SS in the 20% discounts when sales were slow and a new SS could be had here in St. Louis for less than $40K.

The cars are built by Holden in Australia and the high price of the car is partly due to the exchange rate. 2017 is the last year for the SS. Many people have wished for a Chevy version of the CTS to replace the SS but so far GM has not indicated any plans to do so.

As a side note Holden also built the Pontiac GTO which was the forerunner to our 5th Gen Camaro. I believe Bumble Bee in the Transformers movie was fabricated on the GTO chassis as the Camaro was not in production in time for the filming of the movie.

The exchange rate has helped kill car manufacturing in Australia. I think Holden might be the last car manufacturer left in Australia and they will stop manufacturing cars this year. Too bad as the G8 and SS were both awesome cars!
