The NFL draft is generally an athletic contest, but both recruit based on potential. For instance.
Matt Stafford / Jarmarcus Russel. Neither did ANYTHING in college. Neither has done anything in the NFL (ill give Mathew 2 years) both were the best NFL picks? riiiiiiiiiiight. They were picked because they could throw the ball the hardest. Id rather have Sanchez and his gimp noodle on my team.
HS recruiting is about players that people who follow recruiting know, and have watched play. They play on small time teams but you can tell who is going to dominate and who still has some developing to go. Just because you don't follow it, doesn't mean its not important and it doesn't mean people are just randomly recruiting players.
