Sad to see the V6 go.

But as others have said, the truth is that Ford was going to kill it anyways. You couldn't get any premium or performance options on the V6...thus sales was surely going to be low on that engine option. A 2014 Mustang V6 with PP was just as, if not a bit faster stock for stock against the 2015 Ecoboost.

GM is not going to do the same thing unless for some reason the sales just fall tremendously on the V6. Not only that...but to stay competitive they'd have to either bump up the power in the 2.0 a lot to match the EcoBoost (which is getting a bump in power this year) and I don't see that happening....OR....offer a new larger turbo engine which can produce the power needed on less boost than the 2.0.

The fact that Chevrolet has given the V6 all the goodies (including 1LE) says they plan to stick with the V6...at least for this entire generation. Next gen, I can see it dropping off...sadly.
